Kristina “Kris” Williams is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. Kris joined FHLB Des Moines in January 2020. She began her association with the Federal Home Loan Bank System in 2004.
Prior to her current role, she served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, a position she held from 2011-2019. In that role, Kris had responsibility for all member-facing departments, including community investment, communications, bank operations, MPF, member services and information technology. In her 15 years with FHLB Pittsburgh she also held the positions of Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Financial Officer and acting Chief Risk Officer.
Prior to working for FHLB Pittsburgh, Kris spent 12 years with PNC Financial Services in its wholesale bank and six years in public accounting.
Kris is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion. She routinely speaks on these topics. Her background also includes several financial advisory assignments on behalf of the FHLBanks. She is serving on the boards of Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. She is a member of the Greater Des Moines Committee. She previously served as the vice chair of the West Liberty University (WLU) Board of Governors. She was the development committee chair of the board of directors for Strong Women Strong Girls of Pittsburgh.
Kris has an undergraduate degree from WLU and Masters of Professional Accountancy from West Virginia University. She also has an inactive Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from WLU in 2015.
